Banana Boat Natural Reflect Sunscreen Review and GivAway!

Summer. Vacation from school. Water. Sun.  When I was a kid summer also meant sunburns.  I got at least one serious sunburn every summer. For this girl with fair skin all those sunburns spelled trouble.  I’ve been lucky in that I haven’t had a melanoma, but I have had a less aggressive form of skin cancer found on my back (where I sustained the worst of all my burns).  The dermatologist said that I have a 50% chance of having another cancerous growth on my skin sometime in the next 5 years.  Given the number of years I have left to live those odds aren’t pretty and will probably result in several more scars on my body.

It’s because of this that I’m very careful about protecting myself and my little boys from the sun.  If we are ever going to be in the sun for longer than 10 minutes I make sure that both boys are lathered up in sunscreen.

Last Friday I had the opportunity to have some friends over for a First Day of Summer Vacation Celebration. Banana Boat sent me sunscreen and party favors to hand out to my guests.  I invited 6 friends of mine to bring their children for some sprinkler fun in the backyard.  Let me just start by saying that the party didn’t exactly go as planned.  I simply didn’t anticipate the amount of chaos that 12 children, 11 of whom were 5 and under, can create. Not to mention I wasn’t feeling well that day.  The kids, though, had a great time!  We had our sprinkler ball set up and I created a little structure out of swim noodles for the kids to throw their banana boat Frisbees through.  Before the kids got to play, however, each child was lathered up in sunscreen.

I really appreciate that Natural Reflect is not only naturally sourced, but that with the Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide it provides balanced, broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection.  And did you know that it is water resistant up to 80 minutes!

One of the moms who used the new Banana Boat Natural Reflect sunscreen told me when I saw her the next day how wonderful she thought the sunscreen was.  Each family took home a party bag from Banana Boat that included a bottle of their Natural Reflect Sunscreen.  She’d used it the very next day on her kids for their swim lessons and was impressed at how well it stayed on in the pool and also how gentle it was when applied to her kids faces.
