TerraCycle’s purpose is to eliminate the idea of waste. We do this by creating national recycling systems for previously non-recyclable or hard-to-recycle waste. Anyone can sign up for these programs, called the Brigades, and start sending us waste.
TerraCycle then converts the collected waste into a wide variety of products and materials. With more than 20 million people collecting waste in 14 countries TerraCycle has diverted billions of units of waste and used them to create over 1,500 different products available at major retailers ranging fromWalmart to Whole Foods Market.
TerraCycle makes a large variety of both trendy and utilitarian products. As I looked through their products I was very impressed to see that the prices were not only “reasonable”, the prices were, what I would consider, very low.
They have trendy upcycled bags made from candy wrappers and drink pouches that make perfect back to school items….

They also have a wide array of products for the home. I was intrigued to learn that they have household cleaners. I wondered how those could be produced from upcycled materials. TerraCycle’s household cleaners are made from natural, non-toxic, biodegradable materials. The bottles and spray caps used for the cleaners have been rescued from industrial waste streams. Cool!
The description on the website states the size as 17″ wide x 14″ tall x 9.88″ deep, but, for some reason when I receive a product I am always surprised by the actual size. In this instance, I was pleasantly surprised by how large the bin is. My office is the junk room right now, and will remain such until we replace my desk that the movers broke, so this bin is serving as the receptacle for all my blog items. It isn’t gigantic, but it does fit a lot.
The storage bins are made from 100% recycled materials and come in a set of 5. The set of 5 would be perfect for organizing magazines, books, papers, etc, or great as toy bins for a play room.
