Doopsy Pocket Insert ~ Review ~

I recently had the opportunity to try out the new Doopsy pocket insert. This is an insert unlike any other I have ever seen. I have never tried the original Doopsy pocket insert, but I’ve heard frustrations expressed over how difficult it is to stuff. If you’re not acquainted with Doopsy at all you’re probably surprised that there are stuffable inserts. You’ve heard of stuffing diapers, but inserts???

The new Doopsy insert is awesome! There are two absolutely genius components to the design. 1) The natural fiber 70% bamboo 30% hemp terry outer part of the insert forms a sleeve into which you can stuff a 4 layer microfiber insert. The combo is great for heavy wetters and nighttime wear, and the sleeve by itself makes for a very trim daytime diaper. (Note that if you do use the insert with just the sleeve that it is only 2 layers of insert so don’t expect to leave the dipe on as long as with a microfiber insert.) 2) The insert itself is lined on the outside of one side with a layer of PUL as extra protection against leaks.

I found that this insert is super versatile. It goes great in a Doopsy diaper or any other pocket diaper, and because of the PUL on the back of the diaper I was also able to use it as an insert in a non-waterproof cover someone made me. Until, the Doopsy insert I had no idea what I was going to do with this adorable diaper that I didn’t want to put a cover over.

It fits perfectly in it. With the microfiber insert in the sleeve I had a just the tiniest bit dampness on the diaper cover but not enough to dampen little brother’s clothes.
